Love Thursday: Footpaths in Scalea

Posted on: Jun 12, 2008

One of the most beautiful towns in Calabria sits perched on a mountain overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Surrounded by lush hills and creamy white sand, Scalea is one of the most touristy areas of our great region, but remember “touristy” is relative and this almost undiscovered gem won’t stay hidden long.

I plan to delve into more detail about my recent trip to Scalea, but for now I offer you a bit of love… in the form of some of the many, many steps, or scale, that give Scalea its name.

We were recently encouraged over at Love Thursday’s home to look for love in random places. Being the obedient rule-follower I am, I obeyed.

I walked for over three hours searching the pebble stone footpaths for a hidden heart.

When I stopped “looking,” I found them.

Don’t you love it when you find love in random places? Where was the last place you found a bit of random love?

 Happy Love Thursday!

Kone EcoStart, Made by Power Efficiency, Installed at Boston Logan Airport

Wireless News 04-24-2009 Kone EcoStart, Made by Power Efficiency, Installed at Boston Logan Airport Type: News

Power Efficiency, a clean tech company focused on efficiency technologies for electric motors, announced that Kone, an elevator and escalator company, installed the Kone EcoStart on 20 moving walks at Boston Logan International Airport.

In 2008, Logan Airport served 26.1 million passengers.

The Kone EcoStart is a motor efficiency controller that soft starts an electric motor, bringing it from rest to full speed. Once it is at full speed, the EcoStart monitors the motor and improves its efficiency when operating. By conserving energy, the EcoStart supports the building’s sustainability programs and contributes to environmental protection efforts. EcoStart is manufactured by Power Efficiency exclusively for Kone under private label. web site boston logan airport website boston logan airport

Test results at Logan Airport indicate the 24 EcoStarts will save approximately 60,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. Logan Airport is also considering installing EcoStart on the escalators at the airport, which will enable the airport to save significantly more energy.

Vance Tang, Kone EVP and Area Director for the Americas, said, “The EcoStart installations at Logan Airport are a great example of Kone’s commitment to partner with our customers and suppliers to save energy, reduce emissions and eliminate waste. The EcoStart makes good business and environmental sense for the airport and the entire Boston community.”

Steven Strasser, Chairman and CEO of Power Efficiency, said, “We are pleased to work with Kone and Logan Airport on this EcoStart energy saving project. By working with Kone, our highly integrated and easily installed products make the EcoStart well suited to address the complex energy savings requirements of major transportation hubs like the airport.”
