Call your credit card companies (or any other ones you might need to call while you’re over here) and ask them for a NON-800 number you can call from overseas. Write them down somewhere safe.

Also, plan only one major thing a day – one site, one town, one of whatever it is. If you take it slow, you’ll enjoy it more.

I read that only one other EU country has fewer internet connections than Italy. The internet is not everywhere. Cell phone connections are not everywhere either. And GPS can't always be trusted. While my address is Gargonza, I am about 2 miles from the center of Gargonza. So follow the directions that the B&B owners send, not your GPS.   <strong><em>Oh absolutely! We had guests get mad at us once b/c the GPS took them to the wrong place.
