We are going to Spain in the fall and I am doing all the things you suggest. I also use Google Earth to look at the places we will be - it is almost like being there. I have used this in the past to get a sense of how built up an area is, or how remote, or how narrow and winding a mountain road is going to be. Plus there are the photos that are posted on Google Earth that provide a great way to "see" the area. <strong><em>Great idea on Google Earth.
