Luggage Review: What Would You Do?

luggage review Luggage Review: What Would You Do?

It’s been a busy week here at My Bella Vita. In addition to the four great giveaways going on, I was also contacted by CSN Stores and asked to review one of their products. They have more than 200 online stores where you can find almost anything, be it a sofa, a suitcase, shoes or kitchen supplies … so I’m pretty excited about the review.

It came at a perfect time too, since in less than two weeks, I’ll be packing up and heading back across the great wide pond we call the Atlantic to visit my family in Texas.

Yes, loyal readers, it does seem like I just got back, I agree with you on that one. But spring will soon turn to summer and the calendar doesn’t lie.

It is time.

But back to the review.

I actually get to choose which suitcase I’d like to review and I’d love to hear what you think. I’ve narrowed it down to these four carry-ons.

- Delsey Helium Zip Carry-on Suiter Trolley

- International Traveller Melbourne 21″ Carry-On

- Samsonite Winfield 20″ Spinner

- Heys USA XCASE World’s Lightest Carry-on

I’m literally weighing my options here, as having a light bag is essential for a carry-on only traveler like myself … but the World’s Lightest Carry-on doesn’t have side pockets, and I like a good side pocket in a suitcase. I also like the spinner quality of the Samsonite but the Delsey Helium also comes in raspberry red … and that’s just cute.

So won’t you help me decide?

In the meantime, be sure to enter the drawing for four Italy travel books to be given away next week.

Cherrye, I am checked out the four choices and have to say that even though I am a huge fan of “spinners”, I don’t like the fact that it opens from the side:( For a carry on, I prefer bags that open from the top so that you don’t have to completely open the bag if you need to quickly grab something. With the “spinner” you’d have to lay it down and completely open it up for take something out. Of course, the best solution would be the “spinner” and the Hey’s to marry…now that would be a great case!

Good catch, G. I hadn’t noticed that. Grazie mille!

A word to the wise: while I am the #1 fan of the spinner when it comes to suitcases, in the matters of carry-on the fancy wheels take out A LOT of space. If you compare side-by-side, you will find that at the same height the spinners has a significant reduce inner volume. And if you go for the same volume, the wheels will stick out making it hard to fit in the ovearhead…
(I found out when I brought one home a month ago to substitute my bulky carry-on, only to find out that they were just as tall, but one had a lot less space inside!! It got returned…)

thank you thank you thank you – appreciate your feedback.

I vote for the Melbourne, mostly be because in the event that you at some point check the bag, the wheels seem least likely to get ripped off in the baggage hold. I love the Spinner one though because of ease of movement, so if you are sure you’ll exclusively use that bag for carry on that might be a good choice.

Yea, I usually travel w/ the carryon, but end up using it as my checked luggage for the return from the US. Good point. Thx!
